A simply unmissable and much loved attraction in Edinburgh, with so many things to see you'll return again and again!
The National Museum of Scotland is a fascinating place to visit, an ideal day out for our guests staying near Chambers Street.
This wonderful museum reopened in 2011 after a full refurbishment It has the most incredible space inside, with vast ceilings and galleries overlooking the central hall. And the displays are equally impressive. There are different galleries to explore, such as Natural World (where you'll see some incredible life size animal models), World Cultures, Scottish History and plenty more. The museum is so beautifully laid out and full of many treasures, appealing to all ages and offering something new at every visit.
The National Museum of Scotland is a real favourite with families. We probably visit at least once a week!
There are a number of different spaces created specifically for children, with a 'baby zone' on the ground floor, offering musical instruments, dress up, beanbags and story books, along with plenty of games. Upstairs there is a great area for older kids, with a sandpit and brushes for budding archaeologists. Throughout the museum there are interactive exhibits and displays to get everyone involved in learning.
There is a lively cafe on the third floor and a comfy restaurant on the basement level, both of which provide delicious meals. And at the very top of the building, you'll find the fine dining Tower Restaurant. With beautiful views of Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town, it's perfect for a special treat.
